Breinig Farms Inc

Scott Breinig, President Breinig Farms Inc

"Breinig Farms started as a family operation in the late 1970's with two brothers using dad's machinery to cut wheat in northern Kansas. The next year Steve and I went to Coldwater Kansas, and after that we expanded to Oklahoma, then to South Dakota.

As the 1980's started and the farm crisis hit full bore, Steve was forced to leave the operation for city work to support his family. For a couple years dad, F. Duane Breinig took over the day-to-day operation of the harvesting while I stayed home to do the farming. In about 1988, we decided as a family, that I would go south and Dad go north. In the late 1980's to the early 1990's I could see we needed to expand. Going from one machine to two, then to three, eventually to seven in the mid 2000's.

We lost dad in 2011, so I was the sole operator for the next several years. In 2017, Steve retired from his city job and came back to the operation. I would be remiss if I didn't say my mother Barb was a constant in our company until her death in 2000.

My wife Pam has been the heart of our company since 1984. Our daughters, Abbey and Amy, and Steve's wife Ruth have always been passionate supporters of this way of life. It has been a way of life for my family for over forty years."
